Talent Placement Specialist / Recruiter Intern

The remote Talent Placement Specialist (TPS) intern is focused on surfacing & evaluating quality Information Technology candidates (including cybersecurity), confirming their certifications, assessing their “on the job” experience and key accomplishments, and placing them in open roles at client companies seeking this specialized talent. Duties include connecting with candidates (both active and passive job seekers) and inviting them to complete a candidate profile questionnaire via phone or zoom, verifying employment, military background, education, and certifications, and entering data into WorldBridge’s CRM system.

Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements

  • Must have applied for SkillBridge and received verbal or written permission to participate. They must have up to 6 months (3 minimum) availability to complete the SkillBridge Internship.
  • Cheerful outlook, willingness to “pick up the phone,” excellent verbal and questioning communication skills, research and database skills, and customer advocacy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or a related field such as communications, psychology, IT/IS, or business administration. Without a bachelor’s degree, 2+ years of on-the-job recruiting experience is necessary.
  • Any IT or cyber certifications or experience is a plus. In addition, military recruiting experience is a plus.

This internship position offers formal training and mentorship, with eligibility to be hired as a full-time Executive Search Consultant once the internship is completed with the responsibility of making placements of qualified cybersecurity talent (many with military backgrounds) in DoD subcontractors and companies requiring cybersecurity talent in the Virginia, DC, and Maryland area. Once successful, their geography will expand nationally. The cybersecurity team will grow, and there may be future supervisor opportunities. Since there are 16 other WorldBridge Partner (WBP) offices nationwide, they may have an opportunity to report to other WBP offices on a case-by-case basis.

Cyber Career Architect Counselor

The cyber career architect counselor (CCAC) internship will lead the pipeline of cyber career potential candidates interested in furthering their education and training in cyber risk management. These CCACs are the first people to connect with prospective students and discuss their educational and career goals. You will help them take the steps necessary to further their education by matching them to a cyber program that fits their lives today and their ambitions for the future. As a CCAC, you will be responsible for managing the enrollment process of potential applicants interested in furthering their education in cyber risk management through Old Dominion University’s cybersecurity graduate programs. You will work with a variety of departments across SCIPP and Old Dominion University to ensure that these potential leads are coached, mentored, and guided through the journey from admissions all the way to enrollment.

As Cyber Career Architect Counselors, you may be tasked with marketing SCIPP’s cybersecurity training programs to potential students. This might include holding information sessions (webinars) supporting SCIPP in various career fairs and co-presenting at various SCIPP-sponsored webinars.

Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements

  • Must have applied for SkillBridge and received verbal or written permission to participate
  • They must have up to 6 months (3 minimum) availability to complete the SkillBridge Internship.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills and customer advocacy.
  • Track record in successfully converting potential leads into applicants and enrollees (customers)
  • Successful implementation of recruitment strategies and outreach efforts to ensure we meet enrollment goals.
  • Understanding and applying federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures (FERPA / GDPR) related to student privacy, discrimination, and equal opportunity.
  • Support potential students in the successful completion and submission of applications and related materials.
  • Develop and administer recruitment strategies that align with SCIPP branding goals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as business administration, marketing, or education. A master’s degree in business, human resources, or a related field such as communications or psychology is a plus.
  • Experience working with student services and higher education, preferably in admissions or the registrar’s office, is a plus.
  • Computer and database literacy (CRM and other supportive databases) and proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Sharp record-keeping skills with attention to detail.

This internship position offers formal training and mentorship, with eligibility to be hired as a full-time Cyber Career Architect with EducateU USA, our educational partner, once the internship is completed.
